Tampa Rug Center
Rug Repair & Restoration
Expert craftsmanship for antique, oriental, and fine contemporary rugs. We restore beauty, structural integrity, and lasting value — one knot at a time.
Restoring What Matters Most
Every rug carries a story — hand-woven over months, traveled across oceans, and loved through decades of use. At Tampa Rug Center, our skilled craftsmen restore your rugs to their original splendor using time-honored techniques matched to the rug's origin and weave structure.
Whether your rug has suffered pet damage, sun fading, torn fringes, or structural wear, we assess every piece individually and recommend the most effective course of action — always with preservation of value in mind.
Bring your rug into our Tampa showroom. We'll evaluate the damage at no charge and walk you through every step of the restoration process.
We have specific experience with Persian, Turkish, and tribal antique rugs — understanding how to work with fragile natural dyes and aged foundations.
Our Restoration Services
We hand-reweave missing or damaged pile areas to match the original knot density, pattern, and texture. Done correctly, repairs are nearly invisible.
Frayed, knotted, or missing fringes are replaced with matching natural fiber — cotton, wool, or silk — sewn to match the original weave.
Sun-faded or stained sections are carefully re-dyed using natural dyes matched to the original palette, preserving the authenticity of antique pieces.
Worn warps, wefts, and binding edges are rebuilt to stop further unraveling and extend the structural life of your rug by decades.
Moth-eaten or water-damaged areas are treated, cleaned, and rebuilt — preventing further deterioration and restoring lost pile.
Act Early — It Makes All the Difference
The sooner damage is assessed and treated, the better the outcome. Moth damage, water staining, and edge unraveling all progress rapidly if left unattended — what starts as a small repair can become a full restoration.
Always clean your rug before storing. Roll — never fold — around a clean tube and wrap in breathable cotton. Store in a cool, dry space away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Rotate your rug 180° every 6–12 months to distribute foot traffic evenly and prevent one area from fading faster than the rest.
A quality pad reduces friction, prevents slipping, and cushions the knot structure from hard floor impact — significantly extending pile life.
